Catherine & Jesse Kiewit

Last weekend I had the honor of photographing Catherine & Jesse Kiewit's beautiful wedding in Hood River, Oregon. This couple is so sweet, and Catherine couldn't have been a more gorgeous bride.

Her sister sang during the ceremony... she was incredible! What a voice! The day was sunny and warm, the leaves all shades of red and yellow, you couldn't have asked for better wedding day or a sweeter couple.

This image of Tubarose was shot in my home when I lived in Santa Barbara after a trip to their lovely farmers market. I used the diffused quality of late evening window light, and positioned the flowers to the left of the window; this gives a nice lighting direction on the flowers. Evening window light in a home can be quite dim, so I use a tripod to accommodate the slower shutter speeds. My curtains are a dark green, and I positioned them to fall about five feet behind the flowers giving a nice clean black background.

This image was taken during Santa Barbara's fiesta. This horse had a lot of spirit, I only took three shots. This was my favorite image from the entire day.
